With over half a century of experience, Contship stands as a trusted partner in integrated port logistics and intermodal transport services. The Group’s success is built on its strategic control of key assets, long-standing expertise, and a clear vision focused on digitalisation and sustainability.

Contship delivers comprehensive port-to-door logistics solutions, combining container terminal operations, road and intermodal transport, and value-added services such as customs management, cross-docking, and container storage and repair. This integrated approach allows Contship to act as a single logistics partner for both containerized and general cargo, supporting trade flows across global markets.

A Strong Infrastructure Network

The Group’s infrastructure includes both maritime and inland terminals. In the intermodal market, Contship operates through Oceanogate (rail), driveMybox (continental freight trucking), and Hannibal (MTO). Since January 2024, Hannibal has also been managing the internal shunting operations at LSCT, where Contship employs a team of 176 operational staff.

Investing in the future

To reinforce its leadership in the Mediterranean logistics network, Contship is investing in expanding the operational capacity of the La Spezia terminal and launching a new terminal in Damietta.

As part of the EUROKAI Group, Europe’s largest container terminal operator headquartered in Hamburg, Contship continues to grow through innovation, sustainability, and strategic partnerships.

The role of Terberg in terminal operations

At the heart of the La Spezia terminal’s day-to-day efficiency lies a robust and modern equipment fleet, which currently includes 46 terminal tractors and 48 trailers. In 2024 alone, Contship acquired 16 new next-generation Terberg tractors from Manuport, in addition to eight rented Terberg units, further strengthening the terminal’s operational capacity. “Our operations run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, across four shift.” explains the team at Contship. “This means our vehicles never stop. We rely on equipment that guarantees performance, reliability, and safety — and Terberg tractors deliver exactly that.”

Why Terberg? Reliability above all

When asked what motivated the choice for Terberg, Contship’s answer is clear: reliability. “Terberg tractors ensure continuous and uninterrupted operations, allowing us to maintain a modern and efficient terminal capable of meeting both current and future operational needs.” The tractors are primarily used for internal container shuttle operations, a critical activity that requires seamless coordination and dependable machinery. With an additional 20 Terberg units scheduled for delivery in the first half of 2026, Contship is reinforcing its commitment to operational excellence and sustainability.

Feedback from the field

The company’s operational staff particularly appreciate the ergonomic design of the Terberg tractors. “Drivers value the high-quality seats and the cabin’s superior visibility, which significantly enhance comfort and safety during long shifts. Terberg’s attention to driver wellbeing and performance reflects our own commitment to creating a safe and efficient working environment.”
