The Phoenix do Brasil plant in Pecém, Brazil has been working with Terberg tractors since starting operations in 2016.
Their four RT403s are used with goosenecks to transport large bins containing up to 60 tonnes of scrap. The RT283s are used to shunt 40 and 60 t Seacom trailers and flatbed platforms for heavy steel plates. Phoenix maintain the tractors in-house, supported by Terberg distributor Equiport. Since the beginning of operations, the RT 403s have transported five million tons of scrap without any issues, demonstrating the reliability and robustness of Terberg equipment.
Phoenix commented “Terberg tractors have significantly improved Phoenix’s operations, especially in the transport of steel slabs. In traditional truck operations, it is necessary to park and wait for four 25-ton steel slabs to be loaded - a process that can take up to 40 minutes. With the RT 283 and Seacom platform, the tractor continuously transports pallets without needing to stop during loading, increasing productivity.
Phoenix recognizes Terberg’s commitment to technological innovation. CO2 emissions are a key concern in the steel mill industry, and Terberg tractors deliver significantly lower CO2 emissions per operating hour compared to equipment of equivalent power.”
